Left: Lacquering Experience.
Right: Vintage lacquerware.

Oldest Craft with a History of 1500 Years

Lacquerware, which has been loved since ancient times, is completed by sawing wood and applying lacquer. In the olden days, woodworkers roamed the mountains and made their living making pottery. The people of Satoyama love lacquer trees, and the lacquer sap that they collect after growing them for more than 10 years is used as a material for making lacquerware. I made good use of it. Hokuriku has an environment suitable for making lacquerware, and there are many lacquerers.

Creating Beautiful Vessels from Natural Wood

Specifically, the participants will experience "making pottery using turning techniques to create beautiful pottery from natural wood" and "lacquer coating in the base and intermediate coating process, which is the foundation of robust lacquerware".
